Regina (Jean) Holm passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2013 due to complications from congestive heart failure.
Jean was born in Ironwood, Michigan on 9/20/1920, the daughter of Adam and Valentyna (Balitski) Swartz. She spent most of her childhood on a farm in Radisson, Wisconsin of which she had many fond memories.
As a young woman, she lived in Chicago where she met and married her first husband. They had one son, Gerald Basick. When they divorced she moved back to Wisconsin where she later met and married her second husband, Julian O. Lee. They had two daughters, Linda and Donna. They owned and operated the Holiday Ranch on Barber Lake in Winter, Wisconsin from 1951-1956. They sold it and in 1957 moved to Hayward where they purchased the Motor Lodge, eventually renamed Lee’s Motel.
Julian passed away on 12/19/1963. In 1967 Jean married Norman C. Holm and together they purchased the Riverside Inn (eventually selling Lee’s Motel) which they owned and operated until their retirement. After retirement they lived in Florida and Arizona but returning to live in Hayward until they moved permanently to Washington State to be closer to their daughters.
Jean enjoyed life to the fullest; her greatest love was her family. She enjoyed a very social life through all the years of being a business owner and it continued on into her retirement years. She loved traveling, bargain shopping, visits to the casino, caring for her many violets, gardening, feeding birds and being a part of many family parties. She loved all animals, especially her cats Phoebe and Nikki. She was a very loving and caring mom and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Lee (Ray David) of Issaquah, WA and Donna (Lee) Alfano (Dave Alfano) of Gig Harbor, WA.
She was preceded in death by her mom and dad, 4 brothers, Johnny, Stanley, Frank and Teddy, three sisters, Mary (Meglic), Teresa (Larson) and Stella (Syzmula), and her son Jerry.
Interment will be at the Mt. Tahoma Cemetery, Kent, Washington on 3/29/2013 at 10:15 a.m.
