Remedios Navarra Pasatiempo (Remie), 95, died on June 16, 1999 of complications from a stroke. She was a resident of Madrona Manor in Port Orchard.She was born May 5, 1904 to Alejandro and Anselma (Lozada) Navarra in the town of Mambosao on the island of Iloilo, Philippines. She graduated from the University of Manila in 1929 with degrees in Liberal Arts and English. She taught in schools in Manila and Shanghai, China where she met and married a Filipino-American businessman, Silvestre Pasatiempo,in 1933.They left Shanghai in way of the Japan occupation and settled in Manila, Philippines. Her husband entered the U. S. Civil Service as a merchant seaman. While her husband was at sea, she survived World War II with her only son, Sylvester. After the war, she was reunited with her husband and they settled in Northern California.Aside from residing in the Philippines, China, Japan and the United States, she also travelled extensively worldwide. She moved to Kitsap County in 1971 near her family. Her husband and grandson, Donald, preceded her in death. She was an avid Mariners fan and also enjoyed games of chance. She was a devout Catholic and former member of Holy Trinity, Star of the Sea and most recently St. Gabriel, parishes.She is survived by son Sylvester and wife Sachiyo of Port Orchard; three grandchildren, Edward and wife Tammy of Seattle, Richard of Port Orchard, and Jon of Las Vegas, Nevada; and three great-grandchildren Ashley, Richard and Hailee.Public visitation will be at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard on Saturday, June 19th from 9am to Noon and Monday, June 21st from 9am to 5pm with a Rosary Service at 7:00pm Monday evening. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at 11:00am at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
