Renata was born Renata Caroline Uecker on August 28, 1917 in Town of Herman, Dodge County, Wisconsin to Herman and Eliza Uecker. At age 8, she moved to Milwaukee with her parents and brother. She met and married Lyle G Deaton and settled in Brown Deer, WI until retirement when they moved to 40 acres in Wallace, MI. She was widowed in 1993. At the age of 80, she and Robert G Waldorf were married and lived in Wallace until health required that they move to Port Orchard, WA to be in the care of her loving daughter. She traveled frequently to points up and down both coasts and ventured as far as Guam to spend time with her daughter (who had become a military wife) and her grandchildren, She loved her afternoon beer and enjoyed an afternoon at the High Tide Tavern with her grandson-in-law (Ray) for chicken wings and a Miller Light.
Renata led a full and active life. She became a licensed beautician who managed her own shop. She worked for Gregory Gordon beauty stylists where she created theatrical styles for Theater In The Round amongst others. She was the radio-telephone despatcher for the Brown Deer Fire department. She worked as the receptionist/Girl Friday for an Orthopedic doctor. She was a member of her church ladies guild and sang in the choir. She was a member of Wendlstoana German Club where she was an active fund raiser and a member of the Bavarian Schuhplattler dancers. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Menominee, MI.
Renata was active in politics in Brown Deer, WI and in Wallace, MI, serving as Democratic Chairwoman in Wallace.
Renata was a very creative individual who loved her arts and crafts. She was a member of the Homemakers in Wallace, MI.
Renata became “Gramma Rose” as the result of a heated discussion with her 2 year old grandson over who “Got the icing rose from a birthday cake”. “Gramma Rose” greatest lifetime joy was family and friends. She opened her home to young relatives and friends who needed the aid and care of a warm mothering heart.
Renata is survived by her daughter, Donna (Lou) Caretti, Grandchildren, Wendy (Ray) Killgore, Adela Caretti, and Great-Grandchildren, Louis (Kjirstyn) Wicklund, Anthony Killgore, and Stephanie Killgore, Step-children Robert and Kathie Waldorf and their children and grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her husbands, Lyle G Deaton and Robert G. Waldorf, by her parents, her brother, Ewald Uecker, sister-in-law, Adela Uecker, and grandchild, Margaret Renata Caretti.
