Richard Boddy

July 18, 1929 — February 22, 2001

Former Port Orchard resident, Richard Charles Boddy, 71, of Cheyenne, Wyoming,died on February 22, 2001 in Cheyenne. He was born on July 18, 1929 in Bellevue, Washington to Francis & Ferne (Fowler) Boddy. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1948 and attended Olympic College and the University of Washington.Mr. Boddy retired as a power plant superintendent in Fairbanks, Alaska after 30 years. He was also a bush pilot in Alaska. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1949 to 1953 and the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962, earning the Purple Heart for service during the Korean war. Mr. Boddy was a member of the Bremerton Lions Club and enjoyed hunting.Surviving are his former wife, Edith Boddy of Cheyenne; his mother, Ferne Boddy of Bremerton; sons David, Robert and Donald, all of Cheyenne; brothers Donald of Kingman, Arizona and Bruce of Roseburg, Oregon; sister Joanne Petersen of Bremerton; and 1 grandson. He was preceded in death by brother Roger. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at 10:00am at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Interment will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery also in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.
