Richard "Dick" Harty

Richard (Dick) Harty was born July 3, 1937 to his parents F. Harold and Edith Louvain Harty in Seattle, Washington. He grew up in Harper, Washington where he developed his lifelong love of boating and the water. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1955. After graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959.

In 1958 he married the former Donna Robinson. They raised their four children in the Port Orchard area. He was an active member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club for many years. His parents preceded him in death as did his brother, M. Wade Harty.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna and his four children, Rick (Monica) Harty, Ron (Susan) Harty, Jerilyn (Tom) Hardy and Janis (Steve) Ehlert. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Jessica Harty, Jennifer (Scott) Brooks, Christopher (Baylee) Harty, Heather (Shane) Masko, Ryan Harty, Jeremy Hardy, Crysta Hardy, Jaime Hardy, Jacob (Kayla) Ehlert, Nicholas (Kaitlyn) Ehlert and Cory Ehlert, 9 great-grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Family Worship Center, 3649 West Frontage Road, Port Orchard, Washington 98367 (located in Gorst under the Belfair overpass).

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Port Orchard Yacht Club for the benefit of the Sea Scouts in memory of Richard W. Harty
