Richard Mattson, age 60, died Jan. 6, 2000 in Port Orchard, WA. He was born May 28, 1940 in Bronx, NY to Joseph and Helen (Campbell) Mattson where he was raised. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 as a Chemical Corps - Decon Operator. Most recently he worked at Johnson Controle at Bangor Submarine Base as a custodian. He married Deloris Wright on June 3, 1961 in Bronx, NY. He also worked as a tube fabricator with Peninsula Tube Bending Co. in Mountain View, CA., and as a tube fabricator with Boeing in Seattle, WA. He was a member of the Paws and Taws Square Dancing Club of Kitsap Co., Master Gardeners of Kitsap Co., Burley Glenwood Baptist Chutch and a former Cubmaster with Cub Scouts of America. He is survived by his wife Deloris of Port Orchard, WA., son Richard Mattson and his wife Teresa of Benton City, WA., daughters Jane Gentleman of Port Orchard, WA., Robyn Mattson of Port Orchard, WA., brothers Joe Mattson of San Diego, CA., William Mattson of Groberton, IN., sister Mildred Mattson of FL., grandchildren Megan, Lacey, Courtney, Benjamin Mattson all of Benton City, Wa., and Bailey Gentleman of Port Orchard, WA. He is preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Visitaiton will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, WA January 10, 2000 from 12:00 - 5:00 pm. Funeral services will also be at Rill Chapel Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard, WA.
