Richard D. "Dick" McGee, Age: 81, died of natural causes at his residence in Port Orchard, Washington on January 14, 2002.Dick was born on March 18, 1920 in Halsey, Oregon to Samuel and Emma(Geer)McGee. He graduated from "Irene S. Reed" High School in Shelton, Washington in 1938.Dick served proudly in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. Dick received the European-African Mid Eastern Campaign medal and a World War II Victory Medal.On May 2, 1942, Dick married Dorothy L. Rice in Shelton, Washington. He spent thirty three years working at the Bremerton Annex Naval Ammunition Depot, Bangor and Keyport, retiring in 1974.Dick enjoyed traveling, working with wood, and the company of his family. He was a member of the Port Orchard Methodist Church.Dick is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, of the family home; son, Ron, and his wife, Joy, of Ellensberg, Washington; sisters, Irene Henderer and Thelma Austin of Shelton; and two grandchildren, Erin McGee and Chuck Earle. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Marie(McGee) Earle in 2001.A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Interment will follow at Sunset Lane Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2002 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., and Friday, January 18th, 9 a.m., until the time of the service. A reception will be held at Rill Chapel.The family has requested that any donations be made to a charity of choice.All arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home in Port Orchard.
