Rick was born January 12, 1947, in Bremerton, Washington to James and Lorna Starkel. He passed away at his home in Florida. He attended East Bremerton High School and Olympic College. In college he trained as a vocalist and percussionist before serving in Korea as a lieutenant in the Army. He worked as a facilities manager for Boxlight Corporation. Rick lived in Saint Croix, Lake Havasu, Arizona, Alabama and Florida.
Rick loved to travel the world, and especially enjoyed Florida – one of the most memorable trips was the first inter coastal boat ride in Florida. Music was also a passion with his favorite song being “Play that Funky Music, White Boy” and he also enjoyed sports – especially tennis and football. One of his favorite activities was coaching his step son’s sports teams.
His all-time favorite past time was spending time with his wife Barbara, son Myron and his family Brandi, Austin, Cierra & Brody. He often expressed that his wife, Barbara was the best thing that ever happened to him.
Rick was loved by many, and had a lot of friends and family that will always miss him.
