Richard "Rich" Frederick Way, 61, a resident of Port Orchard died peacefully in the hospital surrounded by family on May 4th, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rich was born in Bournemouth, England on July 16, 1946 and moved to Seattle when he was 9 years old. Rich grew up in North Seattle and attended Lincoln H.S. After H.S. Rich served his country as a Marine Corporal in the Vietnam war. At the conclusion of his military service he returned home and married Karen Knudeson, whom he had met while selling shoes at Nordstroms. He achieved many things after his military service, including starting his own company in Seattle. In 2000, Rich moved back to Port Orchard to assist his sons in building their company, Pristine Homes. Rich was an active member in the Home Builders Association and Port Orchard Revitalization team. He loved to spend time with his grandkids and go boating with his sons. Rich is survived by his wife Irma, his sons, Jim and Jeff, his brother Steve and sister Valerie, his granddaughters Madison & Rylee; and numerous family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at Kitsap Conference Center in Bremerton on May 11th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society in his name
