Rick Mahar

April 16, 1954 — October 11, 2011

Rick R. Mahar, 57 of Port Orchard, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 11, 2011, after a long battle with rejection and pulmonary fibrosis. By his side was devoted wife Dee Mahar and loving daughters Kyla Brown and Amy Mahar.  Rick was blessed with the miracle of double lung transplant on April 6th of 2004. Rick was born April 16, 1954 in Guam. He married DeAtta M. Nelson on March 12, 1976 in Hemet, CA. Rick worked as a Sandblaster and Painter for 30 years on military bases all over the U.S. and was last employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Constellation and was a Vietnam Veteran. Rick enjoyed traveling, road trips and spending time with his family. He loved playing with his grandchildren and his loyal dog “Shortman”! Surviving are wife DeAtta; daughters Kyla Brown and Amy Mahar;  grandchildren Alyssa, Eli, Evan, Kaden & Hunter (Ricky);  father Robert Mahar, brother Ron (Sheri) Mahar; & sister Shelly (Gary) Grey.  He was preceded in death by his mother Cindy Sheridan. Please join us for a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00pm on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
