Our Family Matriarch, Rita Lou “Elliott” Hawn, passed from this world to the next at home in Port Orchard, WA, this past Monday, October 28, 2013. Rita was born July 31, 1939 to William Douglas Elliott and Alice Leone “Ghram” Elliott, in Winfield, KS. She moved to California with her family during World War II and married William Paul Hawn Jr in 1956. They raised 4 children together in California, then in 1988 they moved to Olalla, Washington, where Rita worked as a secretary for the commissary at the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton for many years.
Rita was preceded in death by her sister, Imogene “Elliott” Silvera, and is survived by her sister Judy “Elliott” Arnett and brother-in-law Jerry Arnett of Port Orchard. She's also survived by 3 daughters; Victoria L “Hawn” Goodwin of Colfax, CA, Shelley E “Hawn” Player, and Allison M “Hawn” Fry, both of Port Orchard, sons- in-law Rev Fr. James “Craig” Goodwin and Kevin Player. She leaves 7 grandchildren; Jeremy Goodwin of Jackson, MI, Christina Fry of Spokane, WA, Mara Player of Puyallup, WA, Alicia “Goodwin” Reams of Clovis, NM, David Goodwin of Adrian, MI, Alyssa Player of Puyallup, WA, and Sam Player of Renton, WA. She's also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be 1 pm Saturday Nov. 2, 2013 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard with burial at Fraola Cemetery in Olalla.
