Robert "Bob" H Lingenfelter

February 4, 1932 — December 14, 2013

Longtime Port Orchard resident Bob Lingenfelter, 81, died Dec. 14th at his residence after a fourteen year battle with Parkinson's. Bob was born Feb. 4, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry & Anna (Beutin) Lingenfelter. The family moved to Idaho during his high school years where he graduated from Lapwai High School. On Dec. 30, 1950 Bob entered the Air Force and served until 1954. He then enrolled at WSU. On Sept 1, 1956 he married Joan Thornton in Woodstock, Illinois. In the year 1957 Bob started work in Shop 67 at PSNS and retired in 1987 from Keyport's WSAT division as a sonar specialist. He was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed cross country skiing, golf, canoeing, hiking, hunting and traveling the world. Bob and Joan have hiked every trail in Mt. Rainer National Park and even in their 60's conquered the rugged 45 mile long West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island. Bob was known for his humor, quick wit, and his caring and compassion for others. Survivors include his wife Joan, 3 sons - Steven (Penny), Kevin & Mark Lingenfelter, a daughter Kathy Gacek, a brother Bill (Hilde) Lingenfelter; a twin sister Doris (Roy) Silflow, 7 grandchildren - Era, Karl, Tesia, Connor, Kylie, Elisha, Nicole and 7 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be 1:30 Dec. 27th at Rill's Life Tribute Center. A memorial webpage can be accessed at www.rill.com .
