Robert N. Borden, Jr., 76, of Gig Harbor, Washington, died February 14, 2001, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. Robert was born October 15, 1924, in Spokane, Washington, to Robert and Sarah (Bilsland) Borden. Robert graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1942. He served in the US Army as a Sergeant in the 776th Field Artillary. Robert was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star.On June 22, 1947, he married his wife Carol Gahringer in Wenatchee. Robert has worked as a Business Systems Consultant in the computer and aerospace industries for the past 40 years, retiring in 1995. He is a 25 year member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and President of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Northwest Chapter.Robert is survived by his wife, Carol Borden, of Gig Harbor, Washington; sons, Michael Borden, of Culver City, California, Mark Borden, of Renton, Washington, Thomas Borden, of Colbert, Washington, and Dan Borden, of Cashmere, Washington; and 8 grandchildren. His daughter, Linda Borden, preceded him in death.Services will be held Monday, February 19, 2001, 9:30AM, at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, Washington. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 20, 1:00PM, at Wenatchee City Cemetery with Military Honors.
