In Memory of Airman First Class Robert “Bobby” Brown
Robert “Bobby” James Brown was born on December 20, 1995 in Wheat Ridge, Co to Jeff and Valeta Brown. Throughout his life, Bobby lived in several states including Colorado, Oregon, Nevada, Texas, Washington and most recently Alaska. As a result of this, Bobby experienced a wide variety of culture, nature and adventure as well as making friends fast and keeping them for a long time. Bobby had a love for music (drums and guitar), motorcycles, hiking and biking. Bobby attended High School in Gig Harbor, Washington prior to moving to Texas with his family and completing his High School Diploma online. In September of 2014, Bobby joined the United States Air Force, attended Basic Military training at Lockland A.F.B. in San Antonio where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and expert marksmanship. He then went on to Wichita Falls, TX for his Tech school where he graduated top of his class as an Armament Technician for the F-22 Raptor, was a member of the schools color guard as well as the academic leader for his flight.
Upon graduation, Bobby was stationed in Anchorage, AK at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson where he joined the 3rd Munitions squadron and continued to excel in his studies scoring very high on his Air Force Career Development Courses (CDC’s), graduating top of his class in Honor Guard training. Bobby joined the Base Honor Guard where he participated in giving Honors at 10 different Veteran’s services throughout Alaska.
Bobby’s love for the outdoors flourished in Alaska where, in his off hours, he participated in 5 habitat for humanity homes, adopt-a-trail program and JBAADD (Joint Based Airman Against Drunk Driving) driving airman who had drank too much back to base. He spent countless hours biking, hiking, backpacking, snowboarding and kayaking. Bobby tragically lost his life on May 16, 2016 in a kayaking accident on Eklutna Lake in Alaska. Bobby is survived by his parents Jeff and Valeta Brown of Port Orchard, Wa, sister Caytlyn of Fort Worth, TX, sister Anna of Port Orchard, Wa, Grandparents Bob and Sue Potts of Belfair, Wa, Darrell Vesely of Fruita, Co and Tim Brown of Olalla, Wa.
