Robert Duane Buckholtz was born on March 18, 1939 in Radisson, Wisconsin to James and Phyllis Buckholtz. He lived in Winter, WI where he attended school. Robert left his studies in the 8th grade to help his dad in the woods. He served in the US Army and retired after a long and accomplished career. Following his service, he worked and retired out of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA. He was an excellent mechanic.
One of his proudest accomplishments stemmed from growing up in poverty. Robert raised five children, and several foster children with his wife Leta. He was proud to be able to work to a state where he was able to help many people in their times of need.
Robert was a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV. He enjoyed snowtubing with family, cutting firewood, being a grandpa. He did for his grandkids what he wasn't able to do for his children. He enjoyed any and all gatherings the family had, enjoying the time spent with them. Robert was an avid fisherman and looked forward to opening day every year, along with many memorable camping trips. He was able to return to Wisconsin and visit his family from time to time. Some of his hobbies included working on vehicles, coin collecting, and wood crafting.
You could usually find Robert outside on his tractor, sitting on his deck, gardening, or at a demolition derby. He treasured his ruby red Ford truck.
Robert is preceded in passing by his wife, Leta Buckholtz, James and Phyllis Buckholtz, four brothers, one sister, and one great grandchild.
He is survived by his five children, Robert Buckholtz Jr., Patricia Lee, Debra Krueger, Barbara Wilson, and Dennis Buckholtz; foster daughters, Tammy Huguenin and Janet Jackson; three brothers; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
To quote Dad, "Love Your Family, They Come First."
