Robert Francis Cameron was born Nov. 26, 1927, Missoula, Montana to Marian Root and Frank Harry Barto, of Hurley, Wisconsin. Bob was raised in Missoula by Marian and stepfather, Robert J. Cameron.
Bob attended Missoula High School and enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He became a commissioned officer in 1959. Bob retired from active military service in 1968 and began his federal civil service for the U.S. Department of Defense, at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Bob was the custodian superintendent of Classified Security at Puget Sound Naval Supply Base, retiring in 1995. Bob was formally recognized by the Secretary of the Navy for his 50 years of dedicated federal service.
Bob was a longtime resident of Port Orchard, Washington. Bob established Fathom Farms, a small family run dairy located on Woods Road in 1967. Bob also was a dedicated organic gardener, supplying his family with bountiful produce for many years.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Faye, in 2009. He is survived by children: Linda Cameron Taylor (Jim), Arlington, Washington; Alice Cameron, Port Orchard, Washington; Rick Cameron (Carol), Calmar, Iowa; John Cameron (Beverly), Port Orchard, Washington; sisters: Patricia Swanson (Rick), Missoula, Montana and Carol Teravskis (Mike), Loma Linda, California; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
His life celebration will be held in January 2017.
