Robert Dowdle

April 18, 1947 — August 26, 2005

Robert W. "Bob" Dowdle, 58 of Bremerton, Washington died on August 26, 2005 at Harrison Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born on April 18, 1947 in Provo, Utah to Wayne and Mildred (Gulledge) Dowdle. He graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City and attended Olympic College in Bremerton. He married Kathie Peak on March 19, 1967 in Salt Lake City. At the time of his death, Bob was working at Todd Shipyard in Seattle as a Machinist. Bob served for 30 years with the U.S. Navy and Reserves, as a Machinist, retiring in 1999. He was a Vietnam and Gulf War veteran and received the National "Service to the Reservist" Award in 1995. Bob also worked in construction in Spokane, Washington for eight years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, District Lodge #160, Local #79. Bob had a "mechanical mind" and always wanted to learn more. He enjoyed a good joke, history, computers, classic rock, his truck, and figuring out how and why things worked! All that knew him will miss his gentle spirit, his dry wit and his common sense. Surviving are his wife Kathie; daughters Jennifer (Corey) Macaluso and Jessica Dowdle both of Bremerton; father Wayne C. Dowdle of Salome, Arizona; brothers Ron (Gloria) Dowdle and Paul (Jodie) Dowdle both of Salt Lake City; sisters Billie (Allen) Turner of South Jordan, Utah and Lydia (Guy) Hart of Herriman, Utah; and grandchildren Savannah & Grace Macaluso and Gregory Brychta. He was preceded in death by his mother and also his granddaughter Bethany Macaluso. A celebration of his life will be held on his birthday, April 18, 2006, location to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Washington, 2625 Third Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121.
