Robert (Bob) E. McCary Sr. “One of the last true loggers”. Passed away in his sleep at home on June 15th at the age of 92. He was born here in Kitsap County and never left; this is where his heart was. He had a long career in the logging business, starting at a young age when they were still using a hand saw to cut down timber. He was good on a bulldozer too; he built more roads and ponds in Kitsap County than anyone. Instead of a brush like a painter he used his dozer to create places of beauty. He held a special talent with his dozer unmatched by others. In the 1960s he entered into a partnership named Riebli & McCary Construction, where he specialized in logging, road building and digging ponds. After the death of Mr. Riebli he started a new partnership with his stepson called McCary & Cooper Construction, together they continued in the business until his last logging job at 83 years young. He was tougher than most but had a heart of gold. Bob was a very generous man and helped many people along their way through life. There was no question he loved his family dearly and they all loved him back. He will be missed by all that ever knew him. He was proceeded in death by his wife Joan Mcary and his son Robert McCary Jr. He is survived by his brother Jim (Ginny) McCary, fiancée Pam Nickerson, daughter Renie (Andy) Christian. Step son Dean (Kathy) Cooper, grandsons; Justin (Ashley) Christian, Cody Christian, and many great grand kids. At his request there will be no service.
