Robert Peterson

March 28, 1924 — November 27, 2008

Robert E. Peterson, 84, a resident of Bremerton, died November 27, 2008 in Poulsbo. He was born March 28, 1924 in Brainerd, MN to Axel and Dagne (Jacobsen) Peterson. He graduated from Proviso Township High School and married Helen Wasserman on December 18, 1941 in Forest Park, IL. She preceded him in death in 2005.  He served in the United States Navy as a Signalman from 1943 to 1946 and in the Pacific during the invasion of Okinawa. He worked for the Federal Government as a contract specialist for 43 years, mostly in the Forest Park, IL Naval Ordnance Plant and retired in 1981 from Keyport, NTS. He was a member of Moose Lodge 777 of Bellwood, IL and NARFE. He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, bird watching and was an accomplished artist, painting and drawing using many differnet mediums. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He is survived by sons Robert K. Peterson (Meta) of Columbus, OH, and Jeffrey Peterson (Brenda) of Poulsbo; daughters Cheryl Tucker (Richard) of Lake Forest, IL, Sandra Kuhlmann (David) of Silverdale and Robin Peterson of Walla Walla; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Celebration of his life will be Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Rd NW, Silverdale, WA 98383.
