Robert Schulgen

Robert Louis Schulgen, 69, of Port Orchard died Thursday in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Racine, Wisconsin to William and Estelle (Dumas) Schulgen, he married June (Davis) on August 24, 1957. Schulgen was educated at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, and worked 33 years as a nuclear engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until his retirment in 1993. Mr. Schulgen was a member of the Knights of Columbus and attended St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Gig Harbor. He is survived by his wife; sons Robert Schulgen of Port Orchard and Richard Schulgen of Seabeck; daughters Rebecca Schulgen of Port Orchard and Rochelle Pokorney of New York; brother William A. Schulgen of Tehachchapi, California; sister Barbara Speziale of Phoenix and grandchildren Brian, Patrick and Kelsey Swan, Robby, Jessica and Nicholas Schulgen and Taylor Pokorney. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Frederick E. Pokorney; a grandson Gordon Swan III and a brother, John Michael Schulgen. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard with rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Interment will be at Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
