Robert Bradford Siegfried

Robert Bradford Siegfried, 100, died September 30 at his home in Bellevue.

Bob was born in Helena, Montana, to Joseph Henry and Virginia Kate Siegfried. He grew up in Kennewick, Wa where he attended grade school and graduated from Kennewick High School in 1930. Bob attended Washington State College and graduated with a BA in Business in 1937. He was also a very proud member of the Phi Sigma Kappa.

Bob was hired by Puget Sound Power and Light in September 1939 and would be with them for some 37 years before retiring in 1977. In those early years at Puget he met fellow employee Ruth Benson to whom he was married on April 25, 1942 in Bremerton, WA.

Bob entered the Army on May 1, 1942. After basic training he attended and graduated from Signal Corps Officers Candidate School. During the war he was a communications and cryptographic officer at the Army War College in Washington, DC. He retired from active duty in July, 1946 but continued to serve in the Army Reserves until retiring as a Major in the Signal Corps in 1972.

After World War II, Bob & Ruth returned to Bremerton where they resided from 1946 until 1961. In 1961, they moved to Port Orchard where they remained until moving to Bellevue in 1998 to be closer to family.

Bob was an active member and Past President of a number of clubs and organizations: Reserve Officers Association, South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club of Port Orchard, Navy League, Kitsap Chapter of the Retired Officers Association and Elim Lutheran Church Board of Directors.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruth (Benson) Siegfried and his son Robert B. Siegfried Jr. His parents and brother Joseph also preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter Virginia (Gary) Bellinghausen, a daughter-in law, Jackie Siegfried, four grandchildren Marlinda Siegfried, Brad (Margaret) Siegfried, Kristen (Pete) Krebs and Kevin (Zoe) Bellinghausen, and four great-grand children Ethan & Chase Krebs, Claire Siegfried and Makenna Bellinghausen. Also surviving Bob are a niece Susan (Don) Ortolani and nephews Charles (Nancy) and William Siegfried.
