Robert Stemen

September 25, 1916 — May 19, 2002

Robert Stemen, 85 passed away at Forest Ridge Nursing Home, May 19, 2002 after several years of ill health.Robert was born September 25, 1916, to Verly and Katherine Stemen (Etsel) in Toledo, Ohio. He met and married Ina Alliene (Fansler) in Oregon on February 22, 1941. She preceded him in death in April of 1995.He worked for over 20 years for West Coast Airlines in Boise, ID and Seattle, WA and retired in 1970. He later went to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as an Electronics Mechanic and retired again in 1980. At that time he and Ina moved back to McCall, ID and built a log house. This is where he lived until the death of his wife in 1995, at which time he moved back to Port Orchard.Robert was a life member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #5 in Port Gamble, Port Orchard Chapter #44, Order of the Eastern Star, a 32nd Degree York Rite Mason and an avid participant as a Radio Ham enthusiast. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping over most of his life.He is survived by two brothers, Paul of Bremerton and Dave of Idaho, three daughters, Fern Lee of Port Orchard, Alberta Champion of London, KY and Rose Gross of Port Orchard. He also had nine grandhchildren and six great grandchildren. One brother, Alfred preceded him in death.There will be no services at Robert's request. Memorial donations may be made to the Rust Masonic Family Scholarship Fund, 1025 Sidney Ave., Port Orchard, WA, 98366.
