November 4, 1935 — April 24, 2020

Robert was born in Louisville, Kentucky on November 4, 1935 to Robert and Goldie (Patrick) Welsh. He was raised in Louisville and graduated from Fern High School. Shortly afterward he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an aircraft mechanic and machinist for four years.

After serving in the Air Force, he held various jobs until he began working for Boeing in Renton, Washington. He spent 30 years with Boeing as a mechanic and machinist, retiring in 1995.

He was the founder of the ultraconservative group, ‘Anti-Communist Society’, and a member of the Birch Society Council. Bob met Mary McPeak while he was stationed in California. They got married in Yuma, Arizona in 1955 and moved to Port Orchard in the early 60’s.

He loved his family and counted his main mission in life as raising his children to be honorable people. He enjoyed things like Sunday drives and riding horses with them which in many ways he saw as building family values.

Bob enjoyed spending time at Longacres, Emerald Downs, going on drives with his wife, Mary and his dogs Brownie, Patches, and Tuffy. He loved gardening and sunflowers and he raised and a big vegetable garden every year. His favorite pets were Tuffy the chihuahua, and Blackie the cat. His favorite music was the sound of the trumpet call at the horse races when the horses entered the track.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Mary; father Robert and mother Goldie; grandpa ‘Pop’ and sister Norma Jean.

He is survived by his children Danny, Terry, Debbie, and Kathy; his loving sister Wanda Henry; seven grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers you consider making a donation to the Humane Society in his name.
