Robert Zetterberg

Robert S. Zetterberg, 79, died at Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, Washington on June 5, 2000. He was born on May 8, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to Ivar Sven & Jeanette (Black) Zetterberg. He graduated from Elma E. Lyons High School in Covington, Louisianna in 1940. Robert attended South Eastern Louisianna University in Hammond, Louisianna and graduated from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, California in 1951. He married Juanita A. Heath on November 29, 1947 in Yuma, Arizona.Mr. Zetterberg was employed for 25 years as a Paint Chemist for Crosby Forest Products in Picayune, Mississippi, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1945 as a 2nd Lieutenant B-17 Pilot in Europe during World War II, with the 487th Bomber Group. He received the European Theater of Operations Ribbon and 2 Bronze Service Stars. Robert was a member of Knights of Phythias and the Kwanis in Picayune.Surviving are his wife, son Bruce Zetterberg of Little Rock, Washington; brother Richard DeMars of Ontario, California; sisters Margie Davis of Chino, California and Alice Smith of California; and 2 grandchildren.Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Graveside Services will be held at Retsil Community Cemetery in Retsil, Washington at 12:00 Noon on June 7th.
