An angel was born from heaven on February 8th 1982. Robin Star Komenda , though unknown what her life held for her and those around her, she amazed us all. So tiny and small, her Mom and Dad were blessed with a life experience they never knew they were going to face. As this angel grew, she showed signs that were going to be challenging for a child and challenging for her parents. She was born with a multitude of developmental challenges. Mom and Dad didn’t lose faith, this made them stronger and scared yet determined to do their best with what they had to work with. A Mother so devoted to her child, she had a whole new aspect and outlook on life. Regardless of what doctors had to say Mom helped to conquer these milestone challenges. Robin did things in her own way, she learned to crawl, yet she could never walk. She learned to feed herself, yet she could never write. She had her own vocal language, growling, giggles, snoring and even the sound levels she would exceed to, we understood what it meant, yet she could never speak a word.
Robin attended school just like any kid did, she learned and she taught us things that she learned. She graduated from high school and went on to work at a recycling factory, working computers, shredders, and organizing nuts and bolts. Though these were things in her life that were not an expectation of her to ever accomplish, she in fact did. With the help of family, friends, teachers, doctors and caregivers, Robin had the best team of people to make her life possible, to make and achieve these milestones. Robin not only taught us the things she learned, yet taught the significance of understanding and communicating in a whole other way unlike anything you have ever experienced, these were things you could not learn from a book. It takes special people to understand what she was saying.
With that we know Robin loved to watch football with the guys running around in their spandex, loved watching cartoons and would just light up and laugh. Robin loved the outdoors and trips to the mall, Mom especially love them as Mom & Kris would take Robin into the mall about half way through Robin would start to make a scene and scream and yell until Mom turned that stroller around, then Robin would begin to giggle all the way out of the mall all the way to the car all the way back home and when she got to her room, she thought she was pretty funny!! There were times the mall was a great time, Mom and Kris took her one time and Robin was waving at a little boy and this little boy asked what was wrong with Robin. Mom explained she was handicapped and the little boy said oh and waved back at Robin, said she was cute, Robin laughed and smiled. Robin loved to be mobile, on the move, she loved the park, loved Mickey & Minnie Mouse , loved to listen to music until she fell asleep, she loved her room as it was her sanctuary.
These are the things we know Robin loved for the look in her eyes and the laughter in her voice and the smiles on her face. She was a happy girl, you know you could tell her anything and she wouldn’t tell a soul and she wouldn’t judge you. Robin showed many of us what unconditional love is, never truer she was a blessing and a miracle, once in a lifetime opportunity to have met her and got to know her and love her , we were the ones who were lucky to have her. God needs his angels in heaven and on earth, well she was here and now she has left.
This angel got her wings on January 8th 2016, though it is sad and she will be missed she will never be forgotten. She is free, free from any pain, free from this body, free from this life and onto an eternal life with God . She was a blessing in disguise. She was the greatest child a mother could ask for the greatest baby sister, big sisters and brothers could ask for. I thank Mom, a devoted and dedicated mother for taking such good care of her keeping her well and doing all she could with all she had to have Robin here with us for as long as we did. Robin is a medical miracle, outlived what doctors predicted and accomplished more in life than anyone expected. Robin Star rest in peace, let your soul be free. Too soon to leave yet grateful for your graces upon our lives, we love you and we miss you . You are in God’s hands now, he will take care of you, save a spot for us and we will find you when we meet again.
God looked around his garden
And found an empty space
Then he looked down upon this earth
And saw your tired face
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest
God’s garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best
