Roby Stroud

Roby W. Stroud of Silverdale, Washington died of natural causes November 21, 2004 in Silverdale. He was 89. He was born July 16, 1915 in Scotland, Arkansas to Alonzo I. and Delia (Beverage) Stroud. Roby married Margaret (Rademacher) Stroud in Ellensburg, Washington in 1951. She died in 1999. He attended Clinton High School in Clinton, Arkansas; and, attained a GED in 1941. He served in the United States Army from May 1941 - November 1945 - attaining rank of E5 Staff Sergeant. Roby worked as a farmer: raising turkeys and apples (at different times). He worked as a cook in Civil Conservation Corps for 10 years. Roby and his wife - over the years - had 88 foster children . He was a member of The Church of Christ. Roby is survived by brothers - Verneal Stroud (& wife, Darlene) of Yakima, Lowell Stroud (& wife, Carol) of Wapato, Washington; sisters - Opal Carlson of Roseville, California, Betty Jo Hawkinson (& husband, James) of Port Orchard, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers - Alonzo Stroud, Jr. and Doyle Stroud; sisters - Dimple Jones and Winnie Fay Stroud. A visitation will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington on November 24, 2004 from noon - 5:00 p.m. Interment will be held at West Hills Cemetery in Yakima, Washington on November 26, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.
