Dr. Roger T. Marvin of Port Orchard, Washington passed away unexpectedly on November 23, 2003 at the age of 68 in his home. Roger was born in Machias, New York in 1935. Roger, his mother Dorothy and younger sister moved to Franklinville, New York after the passing of his father, Dr. Paul Marvin, D.V.M. Roger always talked about his fond memories of his childhood where he loved to fish and hunt as a kid. Roger graudated from Ten Brook Academy in 1953. He was accepted and attended the University of Buffalo Dental School. Also a member of the Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity. Upon commencement in 1960, Roger joined the United States Navy achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan and served there as a dentist. His term ended in Norfolk, Virginia where he met Anna and her three children. Roger's dream was to move to the Pacific Northwest. He packed up his belongings and moved his wife to be and her three children to Port Orchard, Washington. Roger and Anna were married November 18, 1963 in Tacoma, Washington. Roger adopted Anna's children George, Angela and Robert. He set up his own dental practice located on Bay Street in 1963. Roger and Anna gave birth to their daughter Barbara in 1965. Roger practiced dentistry in Port Orchard, Washington for 40 years. He was well known and respected for his superb dentistry and contributions to the Port Orchard community. Roger had many hobbies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, horseback riding and also acquired his private pilot's license. Roger stated that he had done all that he had dreamed of doing in his lifetime. He was a wonderful, supportive, loving father and grandfather and loved his 'family time'. He enjoyed sharing many adventurous hunting stories and cherished his time with his friends. He was a fun loving; giving man and we will all miss him deeply. Roger is survived by his mother Dorothy Lucille (Evans) Morton (age 91), of Franklinville, New York; daughters Barbara M. Kaiser of Sultan, Washington and Angela Ledington Fischer of Wailua, Hawaii; son Robert L. Marvin of King Salmon, Alaska. He is also survived by his four grandchildren. The Memorial Service will e held at 1:00 PM at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington on Friday, December 5, 2003.
