Roger Nelson

Roger Allen Nelson, 83, died at his home in Port Orchard on December 26, 2011.  He was born September 24, 1928 in Fergus Falls, MN to Earl & Verna (Peterson) Nelson.  He married Beverly Haley April 19, 1952 in Reno, NV. Roger worked as an Instrument Mechanic at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Naval Subase Bangor, retiring in 1983.  He also retired after serving 20 years in the U. S. Navy.  Roger was a member of the Sinclair Inlet Yacht Club and Gig Habor Elks Club.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and was a collector of miniature liquor bottles. Survivors include his wife Beverly; daughters Kelly (David) Seals of Port Orchard, Shannon (Terry) Madche of Silverdale, and Haley (Bill) Robertson of Port Orchard; brother Terry (Linnaea) Nelson of Minnetonka, MN; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. No services are planned at this time.  Roger will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy.  Online memorial at www.rill.com
