Roland Haas

Mr.Roland W.Haas, Age:80, resident of the Washington Veteran's Home in Retsil, died on February 2, 2002.Roland was born on December 20, 1921 in Durham, North Carolina to George and Edna(Denton)Clinard.Roland served in the United States Navy from 1939 until 1945. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was in every battle in the Pacific except for one. He achieved the rank of Seaman First Class prior to his honorable discharge. He is a former Boxing Champion in the Navy Fleet. Roland was a Carpenter in Nevada for many years. He took great pleasure in sailing.Roland is survived by his son, George Giraud of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Jacqueline Estvold of Central Point, Oregon; brother, Tyrus W. Haas of Las Vegas, Nevada, and two grandchildren.He will be inurned at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Oregon.
