Roland L. Stevens, 76, of Port Orchard died Thursday January 24, 2013 at the Hospice Care Center in Bremerton. Roland was born June 3, 1936 in Buckingham Co, VA to Tucker and Robbie (Steger) Stevens of Richmond, VA.
Roland served in the U.S. Navy as a Boiler Tender Chief retiring in 1974. He then married the former Shirley Bjorkheim in Port Orchard on April 19, 1975. He also worked as a boiler maker with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, for 13 years.
He loved riding motorcycles, even rode twice to Sturgis, South Dakota gathering. He also enjoyed woodcarving, going to McDonald's every morning to visit with the guys and have coffee.
Preceded in death by his step daughter Becky Mealer Quest and brothers Dalmer and Alvin Stevens.
Survived by his wife Shirley of Port Orchard, sons Roland M. Stevens of Filer, ID, step-son Scott (Ingrid) Mealer of Oakland, CA., sisters Lettie Burton of Gardena, CA, Mabel Oakley of Richmond, VA, 2 grandchildren, and 5 Great- grandchildren.
Memorial will be 1:00 pm Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
