Port Orchard

Ronald ”Ron” Cicalese, 75, of Port Orchard, WA passed away on January 26, 2025. He was born October 24, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY to Anne Lazovsky and Reynold Cicalese. He attended St. Fortunata, then Most Holy Trinity High School. He married Phyllis Hayward on April 24, 1971. Ron was preceded in death by his spouse, Phyllis in 2005. He is survived by his daughters, Veronica Eldridge and Caryn Di Landro, his two grandchildren- Reginalyn and Colby Di Landro and step grandson, Dylan Eldridge.

Ron worked as a program developer for Guardian Life Insurance Company for 23 years. He then worked for several years as a tax preparer with H & R Block. In his younger years, Ron enjoyed ice skating and bowling and teaching his daughters both. In the early 1990s, Ron struggled with crippling back and hip issues, which he continued to struggle with throughout the remainder of his life. In 2012, Ron relocated from Queens, NY to Port Orchard, WA.

Throughout his life, he was an avid football fan, often “watching football through his light leaks” all day on Sundays. He favored the Jets, Buffalo Bills, and Seattle Seahawks. The Knicks and the NY Yankees filled in the off season. Ron played Scrabble throughout his life and was the family member to “beat.”

He even became an avid “Words with Friends” with the invention of phone apps, as he always loved computers, and advances in technology. Ron also loved Jeopardy and given the endearing nick named “UIM“ (Useless Information Man), as he seemed to have an endless amount of nuanced information about a plethora of topics. And if you ever drove in the car with Ron, you surely listened to his favorite music, the “Oldies” radio stations, no matter what state he was in!

In lieu of flowers, Veronica and Caryn request donations to the National Organization of Rare Diseases, which supports research for Osteonecrosis, among other disorders.
