Ronald Frank Galla

May 2, 1935 — November 8, 2022

Ronald Galla of Port Orchard, Wa passed away November 8th at 87 years of age. Ron was born in Chicago, Illinois, lived in Hollywood, Illinois and graduated from Kingsford High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany then moved to California and started his building career. After a few years moved to Washington State in 1964 and soon started his own construction company Fashion Homes, later changed to Galla Construction inc. where he was a prominent builder in the area. He was famous for his Spanish homes, many remodels and built numerous businesses but he was most proud of the two beautiful homes he was chosen to build in McCormick Woods for the Better homes and Gardens Home of the Year and featured in the magazines plus the fact that he built 38 homes total in that neighborhood.

His other passions in life included Waterskiing, he set up a slalom course right in front of his Spanish house on Long Lake for all to enjoy. Music, he could play just about anything but loved playing the Accordion, Guitar and Keyboards. Ron loved to sing and entertain and was even in a Barbershop Choir and in a band called the Real Carpenters in the 70’s, plus played accordion and sang at Gene’s Beachcomber when they went Italian and at Mary Mac’s in the restaurant with his keyboard and accordion. He was also a master joke teller as anyone that knew him could attest to. He also loved boating and his many years involved with the Port Orchard Yacht Club, their many outings, Santa on his boat, annual trips to the San Juan Islands and he was the Commodore of the club and even built the clubhouse in 1977. In later years he and his wife Trudy took up Golf and participated in many tournaments, he was very involved with the Men’s club and started the Battle of the Sexes which is still going strong.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Frank Galla when he was a young boy, his stepfather Ed Fountain and his mother Vi Fountain.

Ron is survived by his wife Trudy of 46 years, a stepbrother David Fountain of La Mesa, Calif, Sons Jim Galla, his wife Karine of Georgia, Randy Galla of South Carolina, Wendy Saffier and husband Sandon of Hood Canal and Rhonda Baker and husband Bob of Sunnyslope. He also has 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and a funny, funny guy, He will be missed.
