Ron was born August 24, 1936 in Flora, Illinois to Lyman and Nadine Langford. He was one of four children with two brothers and a sister.
He married Carolyn Wheeler in 1957 and they had two children, Kim (Langford) Petersen now living in Bremerton, Washington and Kirk Langford who lives in Castine, Maine. Ron earned a BS in Industrial Education from Purdue University. He later earned an MS in Industrial Relations and spent much of his career with Commonwealth Edison in Human Resources. He was proud that he was part of some of the first affirmative action programs and was acknowledged by union leadership for his principled approach to labor contract negotiations.
Ron and Carolyn lived in Illinois for about 40 years and moved to Washington 30 years ago to be closer to their daughter and her family. Ron loved the outdoors and shared this with his family. He and Carolyn took an active role in their four grandchildren and enjoyed introducing all of them to the outdoor activities that they loved so much such as camping, hiking, kayaking and bicycling. They now have three great grandchildren with whom that love of the outdoors is actively being shared.
Ron was active in scouting in his youth, and as an adult, and had great memories of a global scout jamboree in New Mexico. He was also known for his interest in all aspects of landscaping and was very happy with a shovel or rake in his hands. Ron was a member of Adventure of Faith Church in Port Orchard.
Ron went home to be with Carolyn, who passed away in 2020, on August 13, 2023 in the presence of his family. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
