Ronald “Oz” Oswald was born in Batesville, Indiana to Paul Oswald, Sr. and Dorothy (Goldsmith) Oswald. He grew up in French Lick, Indiana along with his six siblings.
Oz joined the Air Force and was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California. After leaving the Air Force he worked for the U.S. Borax Company until he relocated his family to Port Orchard, Washington in 1974. He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Shop 57 until he retired in 1997.
Family was everything to Oz. He and his wife, Edna, revolved their lives around making rich family memories. Every person who entered the Oswald’s home knew they were welcome. Stay long enough, you become family. Exchange student, Claudio Cavalli, can attest to that.
Oz was a Boy Scout leader and a soccer coach. He attended sporting , 4-H, and FFA events of his kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren, showing support to their interests.
Oz was a talented wood worker and he and Edna remodeled their old farm house together. They also enjoyed traveling, kayaking, and camping.
Oz was an amazing story and “dumb” joke teller. He also enjoyed baking with his sourdough starter.
He is survived by his wife Edna (Harmon) Oswald, children Don (Kitty), Joey (Tami), Betty (Alan) and Ronnie, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his brother Gary, and sister Claudia.
The most remarkable life is one spent loving and being loved. Oz lived a remarkable life. He passed in his home surrounded by family.
At his request, a private celebration of life will be held.
