Ronald (Rocky) Thrall.
77 of Olalla
He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Madeline and Howard Thrall. Courtesy of the United States Army Rocky was sent to Olalla in the mid 1950s where he met his wife, Jean. He served in the National Guard for 18 years where he worked as a radar technician in Olalla and Vashon Island. He later became a painter at PSNS until he retired in 1992.
He was a volunteer fireman for more than 20 years, was active in the Fraola Cemetery Association, and has done a lot of work around the community with his tractors, including providing ‘Santa’ with transportation.
Rocky enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and friends, and often got together with his National Guard buddies.
Rocky enjoyed playing cribbage, and was an avid fan of his Grandsons sports teams, and would travel anywhere to watch them play baseball.
Rocky was well known in the community, and loved by many. He was well known for always lending a hand, and always sure to make you smile. For now the ‘coffee’ shop is closed.
Rocky is survived by his wife Jean; sister Pat Kidd; sons Donald and David; daughter Darcy Ecklund; grandchildren Kevin and Kyle Doucette; extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard May 22 at 2 pm. A reception will follow at the Olalla Grange Hall.
