Ronald Lawrence Tollefson, Sr., 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Ridgemont Terrace Nursing Home in Port Orchard, Washington. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 20, 1914 to Lawrence and Mabel Tollefson. His family, including one brother and four sisters, moved to Spokane in his early teen years and later resided in Seattle where he attended Queen Anne High School. On December 20, 1941 he married Verna Pederson and they made their home in Seattle before moving to Bremerton in 1947 where he bought and operated the Beacon Motel and trailer court as well as working in PSNS as a welder, retiring in 1980. In his youth he loved to go ice skating and revived this love after retirement. As a young adult he enjoyed tennis, golf and fishing. He was a deeply committed Christian and attended South Park Assembely of God for over 40 years. He taught Sunday school, was an officer in the local Full Gospel Businessmen's Chapter and later after retirement raised money for Chinese Missions and assisted a Chinese Christian church in Seattle. He is survived by his wife Verna Tollefson; his sons Ronald Jr., of Bremerton and John Tollefson, of Sequim; his daughters Linda Reetz, of Federal Way and Barbara Eneberg, of Edmonds; an older sister Louise Brandt, of Spokane; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, December 28, 2003 at South Park Assembly of God Church in Port Orchard.
