Rosalie Pauline Griffin (77), of Port Orchard lost her battle with cancer on April 4, 2009. She was born March 6, 1932 in Turlock, Ca to Russell King and Melba Pierce Leedom. Surviving her are four children, Colin R. Griffin (Josie) of London, AR, Christina Taylor (Shawn) of Tecumseh, MO, Murray C. Griffin (Mayla ) of Allen Park, MI, Laura K. Fry (Darrell) of Port Orchard, WA; a sister, Joyce Kimmel also of Port Orchard, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand child. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday April 11, 2009 at Port Orchard Church of Christ, 2585 Carr Lane, Port Orchard. She was married to Clyde W. Griffin, CDR, Ret, USN for twenty-five years and lived in various areas of the United States, and has lived in Washington since 1975. After retirement from civil service in 1996 she worked part time for her daughter and son-in-law’s accounting firm in Bremerton until illness forced her into total retirement in 1998. The last two and ½ years of her life she was blessed to live in a home next door to her daughter where she enjoyed her gardening and passion for writing. She was published many times including stories in The Chicken Soup book series. Travel, her family and friends have filled her life. She survived multiple cancers and was an encouragement and hope to many who battled the disease. We thank everyone who has been a part of her survival all these years.
