Roy John DeBoer was born on July 23, 1936 in Bellingham, and died on March, 02, 2020 at Harrison Hospital Bremerton. He is succeeded by his wife of nearly 60 years, Bea DeBoer, sister Edie Mitchell, his children Nicole and David DeBoer, grandchildren Devlan Miller, Alena Wolff, Brent Miller, Jullianna Miller, Ericka Michel, Danika DeBoer, and great-grandchild Louis Michel.
Not only was Roy a devoted family member, but he also committed himself to the Kitsap community where he served as an English teacher at South Kitsap High School from 1963 until 1972. He also served as Vice Principal of Burley Glenwood in Port Orchard and as Principal of David Wolfle Elementary in Kingston.
After his career of teaching at the high school, Roy started and was director of the Indian Education Program of South Kitsap School District in 1973 until 1978. This program is still continuing to support the Native American community in SKSD today. Roy was a kind, thoughtful, and extremely fun and witty man. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined. Please check this website or the offices at First Lutheran Community Church for more information in the future.
