Mr. Roy Clarence Johnston, Age:85, died at his residence in Port Orchard, Washington on March 6, 2002.Roy was born on May 16, 1916 in Terry, Montana to Joseph Thomas and Pearl(Fugett)Johnston. He attended Yakima High School, in Yakima, Washington, graduating in 1932. On February 24, 1944, Roy joined the United States Navy. He served during World War II and was decorated with the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was stationed at NTS Farragut, Idaho, the USS Beaverhead, and PSC USNB Bremerton, Washington. Roy was honorably discharged from the military on February 12, 1946 having attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer.On August 5, 1947 Roy married Harriet I.Buchert in Yakima. He then chose a career as a Maintenance Engineer in the hotel industry, retiring in the early 1980's.Roy enjoyed fishing, and doing all types of "handy" work.He is survived by his daughter, JoAnne V., and husband, Bob Robinson of Mukilteo, Washington; daughter, Gail D. and husband, Michael Nealon of Lynnwood, Washington; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet(1997), and seven brothers and sisters.At the family's request, there are no services currently scheduled.
