Royce Cydrus

Royce Mae (Gallaher) Cydrus was born August 8, 1915 at Walla Walla, Washington, and died on October 24, 2001 in Tacoma, Washington. Royce married Floyd Cydrus on January 4, 1937 at Maysville, Kentucky. She is survived by a sister, Martha Bell, of Tacoma; a brother, Jack Gallaher, of Marina, California; three daughters, Ruth Anne(Vissia), Gwen (Daugs)and Sharon (Clearwater); eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. As the daughter of a Methodist Pastor, she grew up in many towns in Washington State. After graduating from the Northwest Training School in Seattle, Washington, and the Chicago Evangelist Institute. Royce and Floyd were ordained into the Church of Christ in Christian Union and served various churches in Ohio, Texas and Washington State.In the early 1950's Royce served as Pastor of the Moran Methodist Church in Spokane, while Floyd served the National Holiness Association as a field representative. Royce worked for J.C. Penney in Spokane for eight years during the 1950's and early 60's. She continued to serve the church with her husband and retired in Sacramento, California. In 1997 they moved to Tacoma, Washington to be near their children. Floyd preceded Royce in death in December of 2000.Royce now rests in the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 28,2001, at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Interment will be at 2 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2001 at Moran Community Center in Spokane, Washington. The officiant will be Pastor Daryl Daugs.All funeral arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home in Port Orchard.
