Russell Neil Hardwick, 76, died at Washington Veterans Home in Retsil on July 15, 2000. He was born on October 31, 1923 to Glen C. & Ruth (Burgette) Hardwick. Russell married Dorothy Elizabeth Patterson on June 3, 1947 in Seattle, Washington. She preceded him in death in 1984.Mr. Hardwick attended Yakima High School in Yakima, Washington and graduated from Broadway High School in Seattle. He worked for the federal govement for 35 years at the Seattle Port of Embarkation and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1978. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1956 as a Pharmacist Mate Third Class, earning the U.N. Service Ribbon and Korean Campaign Ribbon. Russell enjoyed being a baseball coach and umpire.Surviving are son Glen Hardwick of Port Orchard; daughter Ann Kaufman of Normandy Park, Washington; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
