Ruth Strube

Ruth Louise Strube, 76 of Port Orchard, Washington, died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington on March 23, 2002. She was born in Port Orchard on September 21, 1925 to Oswald & Marcia (Hawkes) Maurer. Ruth graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1943 and from the Tacoma General Nursing Corps in Tacoma, Washington. She married James F. Strube in Port Orchard on November 10, 1945.Mrs. Strube worked for more than 20 years as a Purchasing Agent at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Navy Exchange. She was a member of the Port Orchard City Planning Commission, Puget Sound Geneological Society, and St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.Surviving are her husband Jim; daughters Carol Losey of Spanaway, Washington, Marcia Buchanan of Gig Harbor, Washington, Patricia Cummings of Petaluma, California, and Susan Brusch, Portland, Oregon; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son William "Bill" Strube in 1994 and brother Sidney M. Maurer.A Rosary will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to Children's Orthopedic Society, Children's Hospital Seattle, P.O. Box C-5371, Seattle, WA 98105-0371.
