Ruth B. Vandeventer of Port Orchard, Washington died March 6, 2004 at her residence. She was 81. She was born March 3, 1923 in Pendergast, Arizona to Charles D. and Bertha L. (Stewart) Bodily. She married Howard L. Vandeventer October 14, 1944 in San Diego, California. She graduated from high school in Indianapolis, Indiana. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 to 1945 as Storekeeper 3rd Class. Ruth owned and operated beauty shops in Issaquah, Washington for 38 years. She retired in 1985. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, family and friends. Ruth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Port Orchard. She is survived by son - David L. Vandeventer of Virginia; daughter - Kris Riddle (& husband, Ralph) of Port Orchard, Washington; brothers - Curtis Bodily of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, E.W. Bodily of Winnemucca, Nevada; sisters - Thelma Stephenson of Danville, Indiana, Maurine Pugmire of San Diego, California; 3 grandchildren (Marna Palmer & husband, Jon of Port Orchard, Washington, Zach Riddle & sister, Sara of Port Orchard, Washington); 2 great-grandchildren (Jakob and Leonardo Palmer of Port Orchard). She was preceded in death by her husband - Howard L. Vandeventer in 2000. A viewing will be held March 11, 2004 at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1550 Hoover S.E., Port Orchard, Washington on March 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Park in Bellevue, Washington at 3:00 p.m. on March 12, 2004.
