S. Ken Lorentzen, 76, of Bremerton, WA, died May 6, 2004, at his home after a battle with kidney cancer. Ken was born December 24, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Hans Samuel and Lucille Frances (Barngrover) Lorentzen. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and later worked with the Painter's Union for 40 plus years, retiring as the Executive Secretary. He lived in Cupertino, CA, from 1963 to 1998. Ken belonged to the National Geographic Society and the Smithsonian. He enjoyed painting, music, car racing, photography, and political debates. Ken loved family gatherings and was known for his gourmet cooking. Survivors include his wife Mary (Bradley) Lorentzen, of Bremerton, who he just remarried on April 22, 2004, at the Harrison Memorial Hospital Chapel; daughters Karyn Lorentzen Fisher and her husband Noel, of Sultan, WA, and Kathi S. Patik, of Bremerton, WA; sisters Donna Abrahamsen, of Virginia, and Carolyn Pedersen, of Duvall, WA; and 3 grandchildren, Erik Petersen, Olivia Patik, and Wyatt Patik.
