Sandy was born on May 17, 1938 in Cannelton Indiana to Bud and Marguerite Braun, she graduated from Cannelton High School and went on to the University of Miami. Sandy excelled at the fine art of homemaking at the beloved family farm where baking, cooking and storytelling were her specialties and everyone was always welcome. She was an avid sports fan who understood the subtleties of a well executed pick and roll and the necessity of a sacrifice bunt. She had an adventurous spirit and an infectious smile that sparked many friendships and she knew her way around the card table as well as she did the kitchen. She was utterly devoted to her husband and family, yet her greatest attribute was the ability to humbly share her love of Christ with everyone around her. Sandy married Dr. JD Sabelhaus on June 25, 1960. Together they not only had a 50 year partnership in marriage and a successful Chiropractic practice but most importantly a flourishing family. She is survived by her two brothers, Dave Braun of Troy Indiana and Jim Braun of Dallas Texas; five children and their spouses; Holly and Eric Dillon, Mary Beth and Rich Reeder, Nick Sabelhaus, Jennifer and Michael Mullally, and Heidi and Steve Myers along with her 13 grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday June 24th, 5:00 pm at the Pendleton Gilchrist Funeral Home in the Rill Chapel, Port Orchard 360-876-4405.
