Sanford Wentlandt

April 4, 1925 — January 25, 2010

Sanford E. Wentlandt, 84 of Belfair, died in Allyn, WA on January 25, 2010.  One of 12 children, he was born April 4, 1925 in Spring Valley, WI to Emil & Elva (Coons) Wentlandt.  He married Carol K. Pedersen in Belfair on April 15, 1950. Sanford worked for more than 30 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton as a Submarine Welder Special, retiring in 1981.  He traveled all over the world for the Navy Yard.  Sanford did landscaping and trail maintenance for Theler Wetlands in Belfair and worked for Mission Creek Youth Camp for 3 years.  He was known as the neighborhood handyman.  He remodeled their home on the South Shore with 1 1/2 hands. Sanford enjoyed waterskiing and would waterski from Alki Beach to PSNS for work every morning during the summer.  He also liked swimming, bike riding, and traveling with Carol. Surviving as wife Carol; daughter Brenda (Mike) Huson of Tahuya, WA; sister Ramona Johnson of Hudson, WI; brothers Marshall Wentlandt of Covington, WA and Herbert Wentlandt of Hartford, WI; grandchildren Tessa, Tyler & Tanya Huson; and great-grandchildren Gabriel & Cora Dawn Huson. A Celebration of Life is planned for later this spring at his home on the South Shore of the Hood Canal.
