Sarah Melick

December 2, 1934 — February 11, 2010

Sarah E. Melick "Beth", 75, of Port Orchard, Washington, was promoted to her heavenly home on February 11, 2010.  In her last years, she was a resident of Cottesmore of Life Care Center in Gig Harbor, Washington. She was born December 2, 1934 in Malvern, Arkansas, to Bert and Oma (Lybrand) Taylor.  She married Richard J. Melick February 21, 1953 in Klameth Falls, Oregon, who preceded her in death in 2002. Beth was a Homemaker who enjoyed her family, singing gospel hymns, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and traveling.  She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Port Orchard and the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society. Surviving are her son Bernard Wayne (Diane) and grandchildren Sarah, Samuel, and Hannah; daughters Zoe Ann (Ken) Norwood and grandchildren Adam and Benjamin; and Gwynne Etta (Sam) Godwin and grandchildren Courtney, Etta, and Lukes; brother Howard (Donna) Taylor; sisters Mary Etta Fitzhugh and Laura McGaughey; and sister-in-law Peggy Taylor; and great-grandchildren Olivia, Kaisson, and Kerith.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother William Taylor. Beth's longing to go home has been fulfilled.  Now she is singing in Heaven's choir and worshiping at the feet of Jesus.  She taught us to love the Lord, sing, be faithful, and in whatever state we are, therewith to be content. We will never know how many lives she touched with her caring and sharing.  The legacy of the example that was set will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and those who knew her as a friend and Sister in Christ. Memorial Service at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Auburn Missionary Baptist Church, 422 3rd Street NE, Auburn, Washington.  Memorials to MS Society or Melick Memorial Fund c/o LMB Church.
