Sherrie Ann Peters

April 23, 1948 — July 2, 2022

Sherrie Peters was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be remembered with love.

Sherrie passed away on July 2, 2022 after a fierce, thirteen year battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.

Sherrie’s deep faith in God and her love of family and friends was a guiding compass for her life. Sherrie’s ability to problem solve and make the best of each situation, her strong determination and will, her thirst for knowledge, and her compassion for others, speaks volumes about who Sherrie was.

Sherrie was born on April 23, 1948, in Bremerton Washington, to parents Bob and Molly Armstrong. She had two younger brothers, Danny and Jerry as well as a younger sister, Nancy whom she loved dearly. Growing up, Sherrie lived next door to her grandma and grandpa Grover on Long Lake, in Port Orchard, where she learned to swim, fish, garden, can fruits and vegetables, sew, and ride horses with her best friend Ruthie. Sherrie’s grandparents were a huge part of her childhood and they helped influence and shape her into the person she became.

Sherrie was blessed with three children from her first marriage: Jeannette, Ken, and Rebecca.

After her divorce, Sherrie became a single mother who was determined to make the best of things and raise her children with strength and courage. She remained in her home and raised her children on Spadoni Hill. Needing to support her family, Sherrie became a school bus driver while also becoming a massage therapist. She loved helping others heal themselves through massage and driving school bus #60
while caring for her 80+ other children with grace and kindness. Towards the end of her driving career, Sherrie was given the Ellen Fay Award for demonstrating excellence, dignity, and warmth; an award only top quality employees receive.

In 1996 Sherrie married the love of her life, Dennis Peters. She welcomed daughters Jill and Vicky with open arms. Sherrie and Dennis spent 26 wonderful years together traveling, racing cars, taking motorcycle trips, camping with grandkids, spending time with friends, hosting the 4th of July and various family gatherings, and simply enjoying life together. Sherrie enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and loving Dennis while he kept their cars running, keeping the dog entertained, and making mom laugh. Sherrie was able, after a few years, to successfully convince Dennis vegetables aren't all that bad (mostly anyway).

Sherrie leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 3 (almost 4) great grandchildren as well as her husband Dennis, her children, and friends of all ages. Sherrie leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, determination, and perseverance. She will live in our hearts and memories for all time.
