Shirley Strickler

Shirley Y. Strickler, 67, of Sweet Home, Oregon, died June 2, 2004 at Virginia Mason Hospital. She was born on September 20, 1936 in Mountain View, Oklahoma to Newell and NoraLee (Strader) Janes. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington in 1954 and attended Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington. Shirley married Robert "Bob" Strickler on July 17, 1954 in Couer D'Alene, Idaho. She worked as a clerk of the Superior Court of Phoenix, Arizona for 10 years, retiring in 1990. She worked various jobs in customer service. Shirley loved her family, sewing, traveling, flower gardening, enjoyed playing poker, animals, garage saling, and cooking. She was a Protestant. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Sweet Home; two sons, Randy Strickler and Scott Strickler of Orlando, Florida; a daughter Jolene and her husband Paul Taylor of Glendale, Arizona; two sisters, Patsy Peters and her husband Russell of Sweet Home, Oregon and JoAnn Lancaster and her husband Bill of Port Orchard; Ken Adams, her sister Elwanda's husband; Brother-in-laws and Sister-in-laws Jim and Sally Bock of Sacramento, California and Glenn & Janey Strickler of Sitka, Alaska; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends who love her and will miss her dearly and her cat "Tinker". She was preceeded in death by her parents, her sister, Elwanda Adams and her Father-in-law Ted Strickler. There will be an Open house for the Celebration of Life at Lancaster's residence in Port Orchard at 3:00 pm on June 5, 2004. The family suggests Memorial donations be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, 12 Kent Way, Ste 101, Byfield, Massachusetts 01922.
