Shirley Mae (Robertson) Womack left to be with Jesus on August 4, 2023. She was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma on October 19, 1934 to parents Clarence and Opal Robertson. Shirley's dad died when she was 4 years old and her mother was alone to raise four girls. She was raised on a farm in a small two room house. When her father died, her mother went to work as a school teacher and Shirley would go with her. She learned to read at an early age and developed a love of literature.
The family moved to Fairview Oklahoma, along with their grandmother Fannie Lee Neil whom Shirley loved dearly.
She met and married Leonard (Ray) Womack on September 21, 1952. They had three daughters and a son. Ray was a naval officer and they spent time moving frequently to various locations stateside and overseas throughout her husband's 30 year career.
They eventually settled in Kitsap county where her husband built them a beautiful home in Olalla where many family gatherings occurred.
Shirley went to college between raising children and finally graduated from Northwestern State Oklahoma University with a degree in education. She would visit her family in Oklahoma, and travel to various destinations to see her children. She traveled as a youth to a Billy Graham revival and had accepted Jesus as her Savior and taught Sunday School in the days of young motherhood. Shirley had a sweet spirit and enjoyed being with family, holding her grandchildren, reading, cooking classes and bible study with friends. Her favorite bible verse was Proverbs 22:1; A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.
